Judith Anne Gilbert Swan (Judy), age 55, passed away March 4, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born June 1, 1957, in Galveston, Texas.
Following graduation from Stark High School, she graduated from the UTMB Nursing School in Galveston, Texas and worked as a labor and delivery nurse where she met her future husband as a medical student.
After moving to San Antonio, they built their dream home, The Swanderosa which ultimately became a unique family run wedding venue with Judy as the driving force, creating unique floral designs, and which ultimately served as the setting for a reality TV series featured on CMT. Her passion for family and friends was apparent to all who knew her and she extended that love to everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Thomas Swan; children, Ashley Elizabeth Swan, Lesley Erin Swan, and SGT Thomas Alden Swan II, USMC; grandchildren, Penny Lane Berlanga, Presley Skye McCann, and her first grandson on the way; parents, Frank Bernard Gilbert, Jr. and Flora Ellen Babb Gilbert; sisters and brothers, Foster Nelson Gilbert, Linda Christine Bailor and Frank Bernard Gilbert, III (Trey).
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
