Alfred E. Kardos, Jr., age 75, passed away January 1, 2012 in San Antonio.

He was born September 27, 1936, in San Francisco, California to Col. and Ruth Kardos. Alfred traveled the nation with his parents and sister. He joined the Army as a technician, but was recruited into military intelligence early on. He married Joyce in 1983 and they combined their lives and children.

After his retirement in 1995, Joyce and Alfred RV’ed around the nation for the next fifteen years. They decided to stay put in Kerrville where Alfred was the past president of Rio Robles, Inc. and of the Kerrville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. He loved searching the internet, was a master gardener and was very involved in politics as a precinct chair for the Republican Party.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Joyce Kardos; son, David Allen Kardos and wife Janice; daughter, Kimberly Ann Hutchinson and husband William; sister, Karen Heyer and husband Robert; stepsons, Robert Craige, William Michael and Mark Edward Mangione; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will take place in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
