Biography

Sam Fitell, 93, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011, in San Antonio. Sam was born on July 30, 1918, in Bronx, NY. He was a long-time resident of San Antonio. A member of Temple Beth El, he was quartermaster of the Jewish War Veterans of San Antonio for many years. Sam was one of the Greatest Generation, and served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helene Fitell; children, Bruce Fitell and wife Maria, and Andrea Hoffman and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren, Stacy and Jason Bruce, Jeremy Hoffman and Larisa Treyster, Michael and Judi Witkin, Lisa and Erez Sharoni, and John and Rhonda Fitell; great-grandchildren, Stella, Brandon, Ryan, Tyler, and Michaela; and sister, Elsie Stone.

The family would like to thank the loving care given from the Christus VNA Hospice and Palliative Care, and Linda’s TLC Personal Care Home.

Rabbi Barry H. D. Block will officiate.
