Irving Herbert Middleman, born on October 5, 1935, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 from advanced lung disease. He was 75 years old.
Irving was born, the son of Joseph and Dorothy Middleman in St. Louis, MO. He had a younger brother, Barry, born in San Antonio.
Irv attended the University of Texas in Austin and received his pharmaceutical degree in 1957. It was there at U.T. where he met his first wife, Geraldine Storer and that union spawned four daughters. After college, the young couple moved to Houston and eventually relocated to San Antonio. It was in San Antonio where he lived the rest of his life.
After several years as a practicing pharmacist, Irv opened his own store, Middleman Pharmacy on Nolan & Pine in San Antonio, TX. He was a loving father who always bragged about his four daughters to anyone who would listen. He loved a good game of poker, enjoyed discussing politics and religion and didnÂt mind stirring it up every chance he got. He had a true companion in his American Eskimo dog, Bucky.
Irv never met a stranger he didnÂt like. A stranger was hard pressed to remain a stranger if seated next to Irv at a Spurs basketball game or standing in line behind him at the grocery store. He was an avid reader of biographies, politics, westerns and a true sports fan, always supporting his Texas Longhorns.
He was a long-standing member of Temple Beth-El. A true man of God, Irv was generous and kind, always offering help to others even when he needed it for himself.
Irv is survived by his children: Ginger Marie Sledge and her partner, Michael Mattioli from Santa Barbara, CA; Cheryl Lynn Middleman and her husband Steve Gallaway from Austin, TX; Georgia Leigh Middleman and her partner, Gary Burr from Nashville, TN; Jennifer Monique Hatcher and her husband, Bill Hatcher from Nashville, TN; his brother, Barry P. Middleman and his wife, Lana Middleman from San Antonio, TX; his nephew, Mark Middleman and his wife, DeLynn Middleman; his niece, Jodi Seigel; and his great nephew and nieces, Jason & Megan Seigel and Emory Mae and Ellie Middleman.
