I met Rick in 7th grade music class and quickly became friends and brothers, we shared many of life's first's together. He never met a stranger and was always there for you if you needed him which was quite a few times for me. He was the big brother that I never had and I will always carry the fond memories and love for him until the end of my days, until one day when I see him again.

I first met Rick and Tammy in 1994 when I began woring with Tammy. Rick seemed wise beyond his years and always had an interesting point of view on everything. I admired his spirit, tenacity, sense of humor and his truly generous spirit! My life was enriched in knowing Rick and he will always live in our hearts.

Rick always had a smile on his face and made you feel welcome. We enjoyed many days duck hunting and many nights toasting our day in the field.

My deepest sympathies go out to the Poe family. I have great memories of Rick and the family as I have grown up. His life here with us was way too short. He will greatly missed by all but always remembered.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Rick. I worked with him at Tesoro and am so sorry that I did not find out in time to pay my respects. He was a delight to know. My deepest sympathy to the family. He was so proud of Tammy, Wade and Mallory. My prayer is that God grants you comfort and peace during this time.

Rick was a good man, and dad - Wade and Mallory are wonderful examples of his and Tammy's love and care. We are glad to have had Rick in our lives, especially for our son Tyler.

Tammy, Wade and Mallory, our deepest sympathy to you all. Rick was just a great friend that was always there for everyone. Some of the craziest memories are the times I spent with Rick at the places we worked together and other times we spent together. We seemed to follow each other from job to job. Everytime we saw each other I gave him grief about his GMC pickup and he gave me grief about my Ford, arguing about which one was better, but we always ended up laughing about it. Rick would always make it point to talk about what was going on in y’alls lives. I know you all made him so proud and he loved you all very much.

I'm very fortunate to have known Rick for the short time that he was at CPs Energy. His humor and positive outlook on life will always stay with me.

So sorry and shocked to hear about Rick. I worked with him at Tesoro. There was just no way you could work with Rick or know him and not be friends. He always seemed to have a smile and a great outlook on life. My thoughts and prayers to all of his family and friends.

I'm sorry that I was out of town. My sincerest thoughts and prayers for the family. I first got to know Rick when given a project here at BCAD we got to go to the field and test out our new field laptops. I had so much fun with him we laughed the whole time. He made that boring experience a joy. It was really nice working with Rick and we both enjoyed driving our 4-wheel drive jeeps. Gonna miss you buddy.

Rick was a good friend and mentor. I loved riding Harley's with him. I loved working with him. I loved to just talk tech with him. He lived life to it's fullest, and I am just crushed to hear that he is gone. Being a Mensa; he was without a doubt one of the smartest guys that I have ever known. Tammy, Mallory, Wade, and Vicki... I am so sorry for your loss.

Tammy,
I am so, so sorry for you and your family. I always think of you and Rick when Beth and I drive thru the hills around the Frio...imagining you in a great cabin...filled with cool furniture and lots of laughter. Wishing you peace and all that you need.

I first met Rick in 1967 around Halloween when I was 7. He, Mitch and the Poe family moved onto our street in Oak Cliff, Dallas. We spent our elementary school, junior high and high school days together. I grew up with Rick Poe and he was like a brother to me. Rick was lucky. Not that life always went his way, but when things didn't go his way, he took it in good stride, didn't lose his composure but remained impassive, hence his light-hearted sense of humor. To my mind, these are signs of an old soul. I always thought that Rick would live to an old age and once having surmounted the challenges of active life—parenting, career, etc.—would persevere to become a serene, wise old grandfather. But it wasn't meant to be. We can only trust that things are as they should be, sad as it is for those of us he left behind. Let us keep Tammy, Betty and the kids in our hearts and minds during this time of mourning.

I was actually a cousin (2nd or 3rd) of Rick's. I have many memories of the Poe family. I am deeply sorry that I have "away" for many years. But those memories are etched in my heart. My deepest sympathy to all of you
