Life Legacy
Ruby Lee Badders, devoted wife and mother, died peacefully at Clare Bridge Place in San Antonio on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the age of 81.
Lee was born on July 21, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Ruby Mae and Thomas E. Langston. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1948.
She married the love of her life, John D. “Bobby” Badders, on March 3, 1950. Lee served as vice-president of the Psi Omega Chapter of the Dephian Council of San Antonio in 1953.
She and her husband Bobby were avid bass fishermen, and Lee won a first place trophy in a fishing tournament in 1963.
She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, painting, playing bridge, and socializing with the monthly Dinner Group. She also loved to travel, and was fortunate to have visited some wonderful places throughout the world with her husband, Bobby.
Lee was an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church from the early beginnings of the parish back in the 1960s. She was a member of the Altar Guild, serving as Chairman for several years.
Along with her husband Bobby, she sponsored the parish Youth Group, and was also very active in the Women’s Group of the parish.
Lee was proud to be a housewife, mother and homemaker. She supported and encouraged her children in all of their educational and extracurricular activities, and their home was a place where her children’s friends would always feel welcome.
Lee is survived by her husband of 61 years, John D. Badders; her son John D. Badders, Jr. and wife Chrissie of San Antonio; her daughter Cindy Bednar and husband David of Elgin, Texas; and her grandson Brenton John Badders of Perkinston, MS.
