I have very fond memories of Dr Kalter from Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research. I was the PBX Operator/Receptionist and had daily dealings with Dr Kalter on the telephone as well as in person. He was always kind to me and had a wonderful sense of humor. I missed him when he left to start the Virus Reference Lab. May God give comfort to each member of the family. Sincerely

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of such great loss. Though I did not know Sy well, he was an important part of my parents life. They lived, laughed and enjoyed many great times together. I morn at the loss of his passing as it reminds me of the loss of my parents. Hold tight to your loving memories of the wonderful times for that is what will heal your heart. I know Dr. Kalter will be greatly missed for he was such a great man and humanitarian. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Julie Verschoyle

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Dr. Sy Kalter whom I had the pleasure of working with at Southwest Foundation many years ago. I fondly remember the many interesting conversations we had about his work and his trips to Africa.

Stephen, When I saw your Dad's obit and picture it brought back many fond memories of baseball, you and I and your Dad, "the monkey doctor". He was the first person I ever saw who had those braided braclets from Africa. He was way ahead of a common fashion trend now. Anyway, my condolences to you and your family. We were lucky to have our fathers in our lives for as long as we did. They were great men of the greatest generation. Hope things at CTRC are well.Take care and rest with this if u can. WE are "THE MAN" now. Tony
