Bettie Lew was my "other mother". From 1st grade on Caroline and I hung out at her house or mine. My heart goes out to Caroline and Elizabeth. Your Mother will be greatly missed.

It is with great sorrow I have received this information and extend my sincerest condolences to the Jones Family. Elizabeth gave my Father great joy in the past decade and for that I will always be grateful for her presence in our lives. Elizabeth was a very charming and gracious lady. We, and our father especially, were fortunate to have had her in our lives. She will be profoundly missed as she brought such joy in these past years. Our sympathies to all who share in her loss

Caroline: I am so pleased that I was recently able to connect with you, but sorry it was during such a momentous time in your life. Your mother had quite a life, and was blessed to have you with her at the close of it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sister and family.

Such fond memories of a wonderful and much-beloved teacher. She continued to take a sincere interest in the lives of her former students into their adulthood, and I will miss her warm, genuine smile. Blessings and much love to Caroline and Elizabeth

I lived in the sorority house with "Rootie". she was great fun and had such a great sense of humor. I can recall many, many stories that involved her. i called her several years ago. Wish I had know she was in Austin. Her roommate a couple of semesters was Mary Cone. Mary and I were the two females that graduated from UT Law in June 1948. I have forwarded the obit to VA. Rawlings Littleton, who also lived in the house when "Rootie" and I did. There aren't many of us left. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Mrs. Jones was a wonderful teacher. She was my middle school English teacher at TMI many years ago. I remember learning to diagram sentences in her class. She also gave me The Picture of Dorian Gray for extra reading.

Caroline and Elizabeth- I was out of town for your mother's service yesterday and just sick about it. She, of course, was my fourth grade teacher and then I student taught under her for my degree. I enjoyed seeing her in the community and she always remembered me and had a story to tell about fellow students that I might not have heard about. She was one of those teachers that we will all remember as being the best.
